Owl and the Pussy Cat

This series of illustrations was created for the classic children’s poem “The Owl and the Pussycat” by Edward Lear — a whimsical and silly piece that invites playful visual interpretation.

I began with character studies and layout sketches to explore how the owl and the cat could come to life visually.

A key challenge was keeping the illustrations as lighthearted and fun as the poem itself — capturing its quirky, nonsensical charm while still telling a clear visual story.

The final illustrations were created using watercolor and ink, then edited digitally in Photoshop for refinement.

I learned that sometimes, the best ideas come from repetition — redrawing the same scene a few times often sparked fresh perspectives and better compositions.
